Giancarlo Maria Ricci

Brussels – Belgium

Born in San Cataldo in the province of Caltanissetta, he is the youngest of 4 children, Sicilian mother, Ciociaro father. At the age of 18, an accident at work, leads to the loss of his right eye with serious repercussions in his daily life and a pain that makes him suddenly become an adult. He opens a farmhouse together with some friends, an exciting project but he feels it is narrow and at twenty he decides to move and live in Parma. His childhood passion for photography is perfected over the years and his first shots are used to disseminate and promote the architectural artifacts created by his company. After a few years he moves to Brussels and in the multi-ethnic city, he finds it easier to relate to people. This leads him to photograph the daily life of the street with more awareness, remaining humanly enriched. Today he deals more and more often with photographic services of ceremonies, theater and music festivals. He is very grateful to his wife and daughter for their continued support in the continuation of his activities.

The Project

Movement

One of the photographic specialties I am most attached to is “movementism” in color and black and white. The impression of having a still image that gives the sense of movement really stings my creativity. To achieve this goal, I use different techniques that I have refined over the years. The photos that are present in the project tell the story of female expression in the movements of dance, music and everyday life.
