Jean-Marc Donadei
Paris – France
Photography entered his life at a very young age. He still remembers when at the age of 4/5 he watched his father building a cardboard camera. But the turning point came at 9 years old, when his parents gave him a Polaroid ZIP. Since then, cameras have become an extension of his eyes and his way of expressing himself. The years have passed and now cities have become his new playground. – If you have a camera, you have a license to see – (cit. Joël Meyerowitz).
To seize the moment, you don’t need sophisticated equipment, you just need the right tool to capture the image and this also includes a smartphone or a compact camera (which he always carries with him): – I like the energy, the noise, the tumult, the atmosphere… –.
The Project
Reflection.
Street photography means opening your eyes and your heart. You can look the city straight in the eyes or try to find different angles, shapes and images. The “Reflection” project consists of looking at the distorted transformation created by the vision of images reflected in shop windows. The idea was born from the frustration felt for one’s shy and reserved personality in showing oneself in public, but with the immense desire to express oneself through photography. Looking around I notice that between the shop windows and buildings there is a parallel world that is easy to capture while remaining protected beyond the window. A bit like in Plato’s cave.
