Maddalena Veronesi
Desenzano del Garda – Italy
After a degree in Oriental Languages and Literature, she entered the world of marketing for a French company that operates in the Direct Marketing sector, but photography has always been a faithful and indispensable travel companion since she was a child. She has always been lucky enough to travel and has always had a camera with her. A landscape photographer, she believes that every photo is magic. Waiting for a sunrise, a sunset, waiting for nature to paint itself with a thousand shades, a thousand contrasts, this is her great passion and has now also become her job. Immersing yourself in nature is, absolutely, a moment of peace and tranquility in which you become one with the camera and the surrounding landscape. To deepen her know-how, she follows several courses with both national and international professionals, learning the different techniques and deciding what her workflow was. Photography gives her emotions and sensations that cannot be described in words and, every time, it is a new discovery. Never repetitive, never banal or predictable but always a new surprise. This is the message to those who attend his courses.
The Project
The Piers of Lake Garda.
Born in Desenzano on Lake Garda, I remember when as a child my grandfather Aldo took me to visit the villages in the surrounding area, taking long walks on the lake shore and exploring even the most hidden places. It is to my grandfather Aldo that I want to dedicate this exhibition of mine, to his passion for travel, to his passion for always discovering something new. The characters of this story are the piers of Lake Garda, each different from the other, with the gates almost always closed, which let us imagine the existence of a different world. The common thread is the technique of long exposures that characterizes each shot, which always gives enchanted images in an almost surreal atmosphere. Some photos were taken at different times and in different conditions. The water level gave the opportunity to photograph the same pier which, at different times, gave life to unexpected perspectives and glimpses. That old ruined pier that, fearless, resists the thousand bad weather, bold and a little presumptuous, can be photographed both with the light of splendid sunsets and on the cloudiest and gloomiest days. But also the various gates on the piers fascinate me with their unusual shapes. Silent guardians of who knows what secret. In photography I love the strong contrasts between light and shadows, light and dark. Contrasts so present in photographs as in everyday life. The solitary tree with its bare shape, seems to have been abandoned to observe for eternity the beauty of the lake with the Rocca di Manerba and the Isola dei Conigli that every evening give it unique and unrepeatable sunsets. I hope that through the images you can relive the emotions and the warmth of Lake Garda through its beautiful piers.
