Marco Bertazzoni
Lugano – Switzerland
Passionate about adventurous travel and photo safaris, he has always tried to combine these two great passions. He began photography at the age of 12 and landscape and wildlife are his two strong points, closely followed by macro and architecture. Numerous photographic trips have been made, such as the three times to the “Horseshoe Bend” in Utah to capture the classic sunset (unfortunately always without clouds), and those made in Africa in Namibia that have marked him deeply in his soul and are always in his heart.
The Project
The Desert and his stories
The splendid solitude of the Desert is what I call the sound of silence. The vastness of the horizons gives a sense of infinity in which the light and colors, daytime and especially nighttime, are enhanced by the purity of the place. Photographing in a desert environment gives that splendid anguish of temporal and spatial disorientation: it is precisely this sensation of infinity that I love in this type of shots. During the various excursions made through the deserts I was struck by how in the same place lights and shadows are never the same but change from time to time, almost as if to underline the awareness of always being in an environment that has no comparison.
